1-day workshop Sexuality in Spirituality The Universal laws of sexual attraction in relationships
byDaniël Yuno
Saturday July 3 2010, De Vuurvlieg, Nijmegen, The Netherlands
For many spiritual seekers, sex and spiritual development are two things that have little in common and seldom meet in harmony.
How come? For many spiritual seekers sex and sexual expressions are difficult to associate with the spiritual path. Sex is sometimes associated with, or judged as ‘lower needs’ which ought to be transformed. The result is usually sexual oppression or neglect, to varying degrees. Ignoring or oppressing something takes a tremendous amount of energy. The harder something is oppressed, the stronger it gets and the more energy it will take to keep oppressing it. All of this energy is not available to you for walking your path.
During many years of teaching spirituality and personal advice to spiritual seekers and students from various paths, I saw, among those who really wanted to grow, an increasing need to know more about and really master the universal laws of sexuality.
I decided to teach in these laws when I experienced the extent to which some good, dedicated spiritual students were inhibited in their spiritual development through their lack of proper knowledge of these laws and consequently their growing sex-oriented minds, resulting in increasing physical, mental and emotional abusive sexual activities.
Throughout history, many religions have used sexual oppression to gain control over their believers. Many religions, spiritual masters and paths have used sexual expression to attract followers and used sexual exploitation and manipulation to gain control over them.
Those that did not succeed to understand the simple laws of sexuality and attraction were harmed progressively.
There is much knowledge and wisdom to be discovered between tantra and abstinence.
Many people live with a silent sexual frustration in their relationship and as a consequence they seek satisfaction in fantasies, one-night stands and secret affairs.
The use of sex in a spiteful way is growing quickly as a result of ongoing aggressive sexual marketing techniques, TV shows and lyrics.
Most problems connected with sex can be traced back to resistance, oppression and abuse of sexuality and not in sexual needs. Becoming aware of our needs, desires and emotions is a necessary but confusing quandary for our spiritual growth.
Conquering these physical ‘transgressions’ (neglect or oppression of sexuality) that inhibit the growth and development of universal awareness of the spiritual student, requires sexual awareness.
The western version of sexual tantra techniques and ancient writing can give a limited answer to the growing sexual frustration in Western relationships, but many fundamental quandaries are not solved nor are they understood.
An understanding of the energetic laws behind sexuality and attraction is necessary for further spiritual growth and harmony.
